DEFENSIVE STABILITY

Arsene Wenger has stated that the defensive stability that Arsenal have been showing this campaign will come to their aid when they take on Liverpool at Anfield in the Premier league. This is a very difficult match for the gunners, who currently leads the table by two points. However, they have taken only four points from the possible 12 against the big clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United. As a result, Wenger is under pressure to deliver three points on Saturday, but he is confident that Arsenal, who have the second best defensive record in the division, can hold out for a win.

Despite leading the table for most of this campaign, there are still sceptics about the club finally bringing an end to the trophy drought, which began in 2005. Wenger says that they cannot answer the critics in every press conference, but they can continue to perform on the pitch. The Liverpool match starts a run of tough fixtures for Arsenal, which will see them play against the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United in the next four encounters.

However, they can take comfort from the fact that this is the only away fixture of the lot. After having conceded just 21 goals in the league, Wenger will be hoping to enjoy more defensive solidarity at Anfield.

“We have more defensive stability, that is for sure. I think that is the main difference there is. We could always score goals, we could always master the domination of the game. If you look purely at the numbers, our defensive record is much more stable. We have a confidence that we can deal with it but, of course, we have to convince some sceptical people and it’s a good moment to do it,” said Wenger to the arsenal fc football website ahead of the Liverpool match on Saturday.
