SUAREZ OR OZIL?

Arsenal showed a lot of interest in Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after making an offer in excess of £ 40 million in the summer. However, Liverpool refused to sell at any price to one of their domestic rivals. Arsenal instead brought in midfielder Mesut Ozil for around the same amount from Real Madrid. Arsenal have not really missed a striker like Suarez up front because they have been able to get the best out of Olivier Giroud this campaign. The Frenchman has scored 10 league goals, but his overall contribution has been important to Arsenal’s style of play.

Suarez was expected to leave the club and at least in January or in the summer, but he has now committed his future to Liverpool by signing the mega contract with the club. The Uruguayan is now one of the highest-paid players in the Premier league with wages of around £ 220,000 per week. Arsenal have been rumoured to get back into the race to sign Suarez in the summer, but Wenger has put an end to speculation by saying that their interest in the 26-year-old is officially over.

Suarez came up against Arsenal earlier this season, but he was unable to prevent Liverpool from suffering a 2-0 defeat at the Emirates. He will be hoping to score against the gunners today.

“You sometimes have regrets when players who played for you score goals or do well somewhere else. But he was never our player, it is a situation that didn’t come off and that is it. In the Premiership now, every point is vital. But we enjoy that and we have fought very hard until now to be in that position. So let’s just enjoy it and give it our best,” Wenger told completebetting.com.  Arsenal have an eight-point advantage over Liverpool.
