Arsenal to go for Higuain

It is believed that Arsene Wenger might make a bid in the weeks to come in order to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain.

The French manager has been left frustrated after the bid for Jamie Vardy did not go through. Indeed Arsene Wenger is looking to bolster his attacking options especially that Danny Welbeck will be missing a big part of the season.

Gonzalo Higuain has stated that he will not be renewing his contract with Napoli and that he may be looking for another challenge elsewhere. The Argentina international has managed 36 goals last season in Serie A and is currently valued at £80million.

There are reports that Arsenal might be including Olivier Giroud in the transaction so as to soften the deal. However, the French striker’s agent has denied any deals and said that he is unaware of any discussion taking place. He stated that at the moment his client is currently an Arsenal player and that they will be weighing any offers that come their way.

He said that Olivier Giroud is prepared to play in Italy if ever the deal goes through. He said that Naples is a beautiful city and that the football style practice by Napoli will definitely suit his client.

It is believed that further discussions will take place between Arsenal representatives and Napoli representatives and that so far there is no concrete offer that has been made.

Arsene Wenger will want to finalize any deal before the start of the pre-season especially that it now appears that he will be without Alexis Sanchez for the start of the Premier League. Indeed the player is currently on treatment after an injury sustained in the Copa America final and may need several days of rest in order to recover.
