DEFINING MONTH

Arsene Wenger says that the month of March will define Arsenal’s season as the club play against the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Tottenham in different competitions during this period. Arsenal go into the top run of matches already trailing table leaders Chelsea by four points. They have slipped into the third position after a 1-0 defeat against Stoke City during the weekend. Wenger says that it was a disappointing result, but he wants to get back to winning ways with a win over Everton in the FA Cup this weekend.

The FA Cup remains as one of the few title hopes for the club, which has been without a trophy since 2005. This is because they have already been knocked out of the League Cup, while they are on the verge of being dumped out of the Champions League after a 2-0 loss against Bayern Munich in the first leg. Even though the club face a difficult run of matches, Wenger is not looking to get carried away and says that he will be taking every match as it comes.

Since the turn of the year, Arsenal have been going through a tough patch. This has seen them concede a five point advantage in the table to going four points behind the leaders.

“March is the month: we play Spurs, City, Chelsea, Bayern, Everton in the cup. We have a great opportunity to show that we are strong, which is what I think. At the end of March we will know much more. The aim is to win the next game. In every single game you just have to focus on getting the best team out. It’s the toughness, the intensity maybe. You cannot rest any player. I honestly feel it is the most difficult league,” said Wenger.
